Liberated Heart- Interview with Mariah Hearn (Brand Manager) by Jenna Ansel

• What inspired Liberated Heart?

• Dancing, color, joy, positive energy and an open heart with an open mind. The owners of Liberated Heart - Colin Heaney (print artist) & Kirstie Fischer (business manager) already had a luxury resort wear company specializing in refined prints on silks and Colin wanted to have more freedom to create trippy designs that could be worn dancing. From this, Kristie came up with the idea of a festival fashion brand called Liberated Heart. Both Colin and Kristie have lived in Byron Bay, Australia for many years and they love dancing, as well as other alternative hobbies that inspire the brand. 

• What advice do you have for others who are working towards the development of their own brand or fashion line?

• Have patience with yourself and strive to surround yourself with supportive people who will listen to your dreams and help you reach them (look for this in staff). Obviously, you want your staff to be as passionate about your brand as you are. It takes time, patience, money and a lot of hard work. We started Liberated Heart with zero capital and it somehow worked out and grew super fast! But its not always this easy.

• In one word, describe the goal of Liberated Heart? Why did you chose this word (elaborate)?

• Expansion- I chose this word because i think the most important thing for anyone, whether a human, or a brand/company, etc. is growing, modernizing, changing, and molding into something great, continually!!! :) 

• What was the hardest thing you encountered while working at Liberated Heart?

• General stresses in regard to production. For example, when there is a big mess up and we are all standing there saying...... nooooooooooo!!! It can be so scary! But you just have to breathe and problem solve as best you can. Having an awesome team is so important during these times and we are super lucky to have one another.

• What is your favorite thing about being part of the Liberated Heart team?

• The freedom to be myself, feel creative, excited and be able to work at my dream job. I love sharing ideas and creating super cool unique clothing that sets us apart from everyone else. I love the fact that we are spreading a positive message of self love and growth at the same time as working in the fashion industry. It truly is a dream!

• If Liberated Heart had a mascot what would it be and why?

• It would probably be some kind of warpy, fairy unicorn, sea creature that is of colors we have never seen before & radiates positive light and love.

• What words of wisdom do you have for your followers/customers/women in general?

• Be yourself, have fun, follow your heart, dance, laugh, play and most importantly do what makes you happy!!!!

• A random/interesting fact about Liberated Heart?

•  Colin Heaney our print artist used to be a renowned glass blower in Byron and his glass goblets are the coolest.

• Are there any big plans for Liberated Heart in the future?

• EXPANSION :)
